BioControl Medical ontvangt CE voor haar CardioFit System voor CHF

Volgens een rapport bij Globes, heeft een Israelisch bedrijf, BioControl Medical, de goedkeuring van de Europese Unie voor haar zijn inplanteerbare congestive heart failure modulator ontvangen. Het CardioFitâ„¢ apparaat, een stimulator van de nervus vaguszenuw, beoogd het hartritme te verlagen en de ventriculaire pompfunctie te verbeteren, daarnaast handhaaft het een regelmatig ritme van het hart. Globes rapporteert ook dat BioControl Medical zich op voorbereidt om een efficacy tria in de V.S. als onderdeel van haar strategie voor het verkrijgen van een goedkeuring
van de FDA. Maar de CE is dus al binnen. Het is nog niet duidelijk hoe en wanneer de Cardiofit in Europa te verkrijgen is.

The CardioFit system consists of an electro-stimulator device with a nerve cuff electrode and an intra-cardiac electrogram (EGM) sensor. By continuously monitoring the EGM signal, stimulation is adjusted to the patient’s optimal heart rate. The vagus nerve is stimulated through a propriety tri-polar cuff electrode that provides accurate control over specific nerve fibers, thus avoiding cross activation of undesired fibers.
